Playing soccer.
A slip on the ball,
About to score.
A friend close by,
Steps on an arm (oops!).
A phone call,
And trip to the ER.
A white face,
Sitting in a wheelchair.
Described his pain on a scale of 1-10
As a 2.
A moan, a groan, a plea for water.
But yet not a tear...
An x-Ray,
With "broken ulna" diagnosis.
A temporary splint,
With annoying sling.
Motrin every eight hours,
WithTylenol in between.
A sweet note from a friend,
And concern from all around.
A friendly Orthodox Jew orthopedist,
Who gently, yet firmly pushed the bone back in place.
An orange cast,
Going clear up the arm.
{Excited!}
A smile, a giggle, a laugh.
Strong, tough, brave.
Who never once cried.
(Never once!)
Every doctor, every nurse, every medical attendant
noticed and commented on his abnormally high pain tolerance.
{Side note: He did NOT inherit that from me...}
He is my fearless, now casted boy,
Who made sure he was still allowed to rollerblade...
(...who can't believe this is the first broken bone between any of her boys!)
