Every, single, summer-
We bring less to the beach.
We start out heading to the beach in June
With floats,
Balls,
Frisbees,
Vests,
Army Men,
Kites,
Pails,
And
Buckets.
Chairs,
Sunscreen,
Blankets,
Towels,
Camera,
Magazines,
And
Books.
Pretzels,
Chips,
Water,
Soda,
And cookies.
But by the middle of July-
We are down to the basics:
Towel,
Sunscreen,
Book.
Sometimes a bike to travel there quicker-
Because
It's now about
Laying in the hot, dry, sugar sand while drying off,
Looking up at the clouds and seeing cool shapes, or even rain coming in the distance,
Listening to the seagulls, and the waves, and kids talking and laughing.
Or-
Jumping the crashing waves,
Or-
Seeing how deep you can go and still see your toes,
Or-
body surfing.
It's now about
Catching bugs, and sand spiders,
And playing with them in the beach grass.
While mom reads-
This is what summer looks like from here on until the end of August:
Beach grass,
Water,
Sun.
And memories.
Good, good memories among brothers.
Happy Summer-

(...who is taking mental pictures of all the great beach grass days so far this summer-)
